What About YOU?

Every Monday I ask a question, to get to know YOU better. Ready for today’s? Have you travelled outside your home state or region? If so, what spot did you most enjoy visiting? If not, where would you like to visit?

I’ve travelled mostly in the United States, which fascinates all varieties of lovers: Mountain Mamas, Beach Buds, and Desert Darlings.

I’ve also gone on short jaunts to Hawaii and British Columbia, Canada. As a teenager, I lived for seven months on Saipan, a tiny Micronesian island not far from Guam.

If someone handed me a ticket today for anywhere I’d like to go, I’d fly right off to the Emerald Isle, where my grandmother Kelly’s family originated.

Your turn…

  1. I've lived in many parts of the U.S. and visited quite a bit too. If I could take a tour somewhere I haven't gone, I'd fly to England and visit castles and palaces!

  3. My first thought was Hawaii. I have never been anywhere tropical.

  4. I've been all over the country (including living in five different states). My favorites to visit are probably Austria or Puerto Rico for entirely different reasons.

I have a little musical something on my blog for you today.

  6. I have traveled to Europe, Asia, South America, Mexico and Canada. But I really haven't been many places in the United States and I've lived in Colorado my whole life. I'd love to go to the East Coast.

  7. Okay, I've got two:

I really adored living in Misawa, Japan. We lived there for 8 years. The culture is awesome! My favorite thing about Japan, (I should be ashamed to admit this, but oh well, I wouldn't be me if I weren't real with 'ya), was the food! The vast majority of them were family owned and operated. Therefore, your meal was always homemade and if you frequented there alot and ordered roughly the same thing each time, you didn't even have to place your order. You'd be greeted as you entered, led to a table, and shortly thereafter your meal was placed before you!

The customer service was also very excelelnt. There are natural hot springs in Japan that are a must for all to experience!

Secondly, I am IN LOVE with Hawaii. I've been blessed to go there 3 times. I want to go back again and again! The water at the beach is so clear that you can see the fish in it! Those beautiful and amazing tropical fish! God made that island with beauty that my human mind just can't grasp!

    smooches,
    Larie

  8. I've rarely traveled outside of the South. Have just been to Minnesota, Illinois (not Chicago), Colorado, and Kansas. I love Colorado a lot. If it weren't a landlocked state, I'd probably live there.

Where do I want to go? Hawaii. California. The Grand Canyon. Colorado. Wyoming. Montana. Niagara Falls. Angel Falls, Venezuela. Victoria Falls, Africa. Anywhere in Africa. I miss Africa. Um... New Zealand. Australia. Fiji. Anywhere God sends me.

  9. I haven't traveled as much as I would like to. With small children it's cheaper to dream. Hubby took me to North Carolina this year to visit my prayer partner and it was beautiful. I could actually see myself living there.

  10. I've been around the US a little: Florida, New York, Vegas.

I've also spent some time in England and Ireland, with one night in Paris.

My brother-in-law and his wife live in Germany, so I'm trying to make that work for next year!

  12. Well, Ive traveled to Europe, Hawaii, Canada and all over the U.S..
But there is so much more I want to see! I love to travel. Europe was probably my favorite. The cathedrals over there are such a great testimony to the glory of God.
Have a blessed holiday my friend.

  13. I agree. If I could go anywhere, it would be to Ireland. Most of my heritage is from Scotland or Ireland. Other than that, I have been some wonderful places but I think Solomon Islands was the most amazing. We were on a live aboard dive boat and would pull into various islands to get supplies or to dive. These islands had no running water, electricity or anything like that. However, the people were delightful. The children seemed the most happy of any children I have ever met. The women brought fruits and vegetables out to the dive in their canoe and would sell them so that we could eat fresh, local produce and the islands could make some money. The men created some amazing wood crafts. It was truly an incredible trip.

  14. What fun! I've traveled most of the East Coast, California, and Colorado, Minnesota (Minneapolis), Niagara Falls in Canada, and Tiajuana, Mexico.

Beloved and I went to Colorado for a combination graduation/second honeymoon trip. The sheer beauty of the mountains entranced us. If you're ever out there, don't miss Garden of the Gods. The rock formations and colors would take too many words for this short comment.

I'd love to see more of the mid-western and western states.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  15. It would be hard to beat Erin!
I also loved the San Juan Islands, off the coast of Washington State.
History, beautiful beaches, luxuriating walks to explore local flore and fauna.

God crafted SO MANY beautiful spots!

  16. Wow! Let's get together and tour all these places you all mentioned, okay? I'm sure our husbands could get along for a month or so without us...

Thanks for your comments. I'm going home and pack my suitcase!

    Love you,
    Jen

  17. We love travelling and so far our favorite vacation was one we took to explore the many lesser known treasures in New Mexico.

  18. We have traveled to Vermont, East Coast up to Boston, Lake Tahoe, then Mexico, (where family lives) and the Bahamas. Hard to say where--my grandchildren live in VA-so probably there. ;)

  19. Jeanette:
Growing up we traveled throughout the midwest, and the south. When our son was 14 we traveled to Virginia. It was a short trip. The next summer we went back and wound up going to Washington, D.C. With the exception of New England and New York, I believe I have been in all the other states east of the Mississippi.
Iowa,Missouri,Wisconsin, Minnesota. Arizona, the four corners, New Mexico, a smidgen into California.

Our favorite vacation spot is the panhandle of Florida. The sands are white and the water is turquiose.

  20. I've visited some in the U.S. and I got to go to Mbale, Uganda in Africa several years ago. What a treat! We stayed in London a few days while traveling back from Africa and zipped over to Paris for a day. I would definitely go back to Paris and take it all in at a slower pace! Also, Iwould go to Scotland. The rugged beauty inspires me.

  21. I'm not often prompted to comment, but this question got me to thinking. We live in British Columbia and we're RV'ers. We don't usually travel far from home but one summer drove all the way across Canada. My two favourite spots have been Newfoundland and the Queen Charlotte Islands, on opposite sides of the country. We went south one year and loved the Oregon coast. If I had a ticket to anywhere it would have to be Ireland, too... my grandfather came from there and enthralled all of us grandchildren with his fanciful Irish stories.

  22. I've been to Europe, Canada, and Mexico. In the U.S. I've been to Tennessee, the Carolinas, Florica, California, Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio (my home state,) New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C.

My favorite outside country was Switzerland. Love it! My favorite state was Tennessee. Just feel so at home there.

If I could go to a new state I'd love to see the lobster boats in Maine.

Can I come with you to Ireland? It's my all time favorite place to go and I missed it (sigh) when I went to Europe.

  23. Oh my yes! I live in Washington State right now, but I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada and lived most of my adult life in British Columbia, Canada. My husband and I have special vacation memories from Great Britain, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Mazatlan Mexico, Playa del Carmen Mexico and Cozumel Mexico.
