What Abou YOU? Cologne

Every Monday I ask a question, to get to know YOU better. Ready for today’s? Do you wear cologne and/ or perfume? If yes, what scents are your favorites?

As I drape my scarf around my throat and button my winter coat, I sink my nose into the folds of fabric. The scents dance and swirl around my temples, relaxing me. All my favorites nestle there: Chloe, White Shoulders, Red Door, and Midnight Pomegranate. One might think the mixing of various colognes would make an unpleasant odor. But no.

Their blending brings forth a fragrant, intoxicating liqueur for my weary mind. I breathe. Deeply. God is good. I open the door and face the world.

Your turn…

  1. I should've known you're they type to mix colognes! LOL I'm more the type to try on a different kinds but not really know their names. My hubby has a sensitive nose too, so there's only one that I wear around him. It's Victoria Secret's Heavenly. :-)

  2. I wear Eternity when I'm feeling fancy. Then I like Sensual Amber (Bath & Body Works) for everyday. :)

  3. Nope. I'm more of a fragrance free sort of gal. Although I do love me some vanilla scented hand lotion. :)

  4. I have beautiful assortment of glass bottles on my dressor of expensive perfumes. And when I'm feeling the need to add to my own beauty, I give myself a very tiny splash of one of them!

  6. Oops! I didn't mean I purposely mixed the scents, but my scarf had all the different aromas in it, thus they became mixed. Sorry for the confusion! Hey, that gives me an idea...

  7. I love my tropical scents and vanilla. I have a perfume called Island Vacation. It's spicy, fruity, and vanilla all in one. It takes me to lands I'll never see.

I sleep with my hand next to my head and the scent drifts me away.

  8. A lot of scents (flowery) bother my allergies. I usually use a body spray by Victoria Secret, called: Strawberries and Champagne.

  9. That list of scents has me sniffing to experience them all swirling in one wondrous intake.

I don't wear perfume much, only because so many seem to be allergic to scents these days. Oscar De La Renta is one of my favorites, though, and Shalamar. Love it when I walk by someone sporting those scents.

I've missed you, Jeanette. Glad to be back checking in!

  10. Hey, Jeannette! I don't really wear perfume. I think my sense of smell must be really poor because I don't notice something unless it's really strong. Case in point: I noticed my mom had a plug-in in the living room and asked her when she started using it (because she always said she thought they were fire hazards. I thought that made sense and have never used them). She said it had been in for several weeks and didn't I notice, the scent was the same of the bath soap I got for Christmas. I haven't smelled it yet--and it's currently 5 feet behind me, happily working away. :0)

  11. I love, love, love Paris by Yves St. Larent (sp?) I've worn it since high school. I guess you can say it's my signature scent. How's it going? My prayers are strong for you my friend.

  14. Beautiful post, Jen! I loved the picture you painted.

I don't wear cologne, because I'm so sensitive to smells and prone to migraines. But I love scented lotions (if I'm careful); lavendar and sandalwood are among my favorites.

  16. I inherited a habit from my dad of strolling through perfume sections and squirting and spraying at random. We had MORE fun inventing our own unique scent...

This girl doesn't feel dressed until she liberally applies the smelly stuff. I LOVE Bond's Harlem but also adore Jessica McClintock and Joy and Beautiful.

  17. I love fragrances, but my allergies don't. Sigh...but I can use light scented body washes. I like vanilla, and citrus smells.

  18. I'm afraid I'll have to agree with Karen...I'm allergic to almost all perfume scents...ugh! I do like natural vanilla soy candles and natural orange citrus room spray. And I love the antique perfume/cologne bottles!

  20. I wear Liz Taylor's White Diamonds. Hubby got me a bottle Christmas 2008. Valentine's Day, he decided I needed another bottle.

This past Christmas, he got me a whole gift set of it.

In 2007, he got me Elizabeth Arden's Provocative Woman.

  21. Hi Jen -

When I wear perfume, I like Estee Lauder's, "Beautiful." Since hubby didn't like perfume, I got out of the habit. Now, I only wear it for special occasions.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  26. I love perfume. I love White Shoulders. I have worn it for a lot of years. When we hug in church (we have a very huggy church) someone will say, you smell nice. That's what I love about it - subtle but gorgeous.
Those bottles are so fabulous. Wish I had that tourquoise one.
