What About YOU? What's Happenin' Baby?

Every Monday I ask a question, to get to know you better.

When my son was a teenager and he'd pass the cat in the hallway, he'd say, "What's Happenin' Baby?" as if talking to a girlfriend.

So that's your question for today:

What's Happenin', Baby?

I just finished edits on my second book, The Secet Life of a Preacher's Wife. My agent sent proposals for both of my books to four different publishers, and one is going to take it to committee when they next meet. Which could be...? Another publisher has had a proposal in hand since December, and a third says he will look at it "when he has time."

I published a story in a Guideposts anthology (click on this link to order a copy), and they accepted a second story for another title in the same series. I sold two humor articles, and I'm getting read to speak for a Mother Daughter banquet.

We took a trip to visit our darling, brilliant grandbabies and their parents last month, and I am trying to lose 12 pounds before our trip to Colorado in August. I've gained so much weight lately I've had to buy clothes two sizes larger than usual. I finally decided to do something about it. Welcome to Suffering 101.

Your turn...

I am sitting here wondering what to do next. God has me on wait mode. I door just closed it seems, I must admit to being disappointed. So I am in the hallway, one door has closed and the other has not opened yet.
I need a breakthrough and expect it. So whats going on? I am waiting expectatly for God!

  3. Hi Jeanette!
I am getting ready to start my week of chaos as I direct my wonderful middle/high schoolers in 12th Night. This week is dress rehearsal week, and they always stress me out because if we were to perform tonight it would be a disaster. BUT they always come through and it's always wonderful. Here's praying this show follows suit:)
thanks. Praying for your book going to committee. How exciting:)

  4. I'm reworking my manuscript based off some editor's suggestions and then will resubmit. No pressure, huh?

I'm snuggling my baby girl every night ... that takes at LEAST 2 hours :)

  6. Hahaa, about the Suffering 101. LOL I can related. I've been gorging on chocolate lately but my gym membership is expired...I need to get out and run, which def. fits the Suffering 101 requirements. LOL

Congrats so much on the proposals!!!! I can't wait to see what happens. Also for your short story/devotion type sales. Awesome.

Right now I'm caught between working on my own proposals for some querying and also trying to add in some scenes to my finished wip. Whew.

  7. I love that you shared where you are with your writing and am so envious you got into Guideposts! I've tried so many times.
What's happening here? You know already--waiting to hear back from the agent. Pitching to another on Friday. And revising!

  8. Getting ready for a summer wedding which means every weekend, we have to go shopping to get something. But I'm loving it. Enjoying the gorgeous Michigan weather. Watching my baby grandson walk around a table.

What a pretty picture of you and your dear ones.

  9. Jen:
We had to cancel our vacation. We would have been going through Tennessee (Floods) and gone to the Florida Gulf Coast (Oil Slick predicted).
Doing the usual, writing for my blog entries. Acting Up in Church(Drama Ministry) has a skit for Mother's Day.
Our work we need to get done on our house is growing and growing.
I have to find someplace for all my books and stuff when we get ready for the work to be done.
Trying to get caught up on laundry. Trying to read a few books passed on to me by a friend. (I have a CVS green bag full.)

  12. Just reading through the comments -- there's one you'll want to delete quickly (BurtonClary031's) -- nasty links imbedded.

Congratulations on all the exciting writing achievements. I'll keep my fingers crossed that at least one of those publishers says yes. :)

What's happening for me? I've been polishing one of my novels... have it out for a final critique right now and hope to have it ready for querying by the summer. I have an article coming out this month in Canada's RV Times magazine. We just returned from attending a granddaughter's wedding and a weeklong family gathering... such a joy! I love the picture of you and your precious little ones.

  13. Hey, Jeanette~

I'm trying to get a home management binder going. I don't seem to have enough time to get things done, so I needed a little help. Hopefully, it will do wonders for me! : > )

  14. Yea, you!! Congratulations!

I keep writing that column, keep waiting on God to do what He wants with it, that's what I'm doing.

I can safely say I strongly dislike the 'waiting room,' which is what I seem to be in right now. After all, I'm the Queen of Now!

  15. Hi Jen -

Sweet pic of you and the grandbabies!

Oh my, I'm right there with you. I need to lose 10 pounds. It must be all that chocolate I ate when I got the last rejection letter.
