Never, never, never give up!

Ever feel like you’ll run out of time before you accomplish all your dreams and plans? Before you quit, you may want to read these stats:

  • Colonel Harland Sanders was 65 when he launched his Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise business;
  • Grandma Moses was 78 when she began oil painting;
  • Laura Ingalls Wilder was 65 when she started writing her Little House on the Prairie series;

And Myrrha Stanford-Smith, an 82-year-old teacher, just landed a 3-book deal for her fictional accounts of William Shakespeare. Read about it here.

Makes you want to go out and skip some rope, doesn’t it?

Please don't give up on your dreams.

God hasn't.

Follow Him; He'll lead you to the fulfillment of all your dreams,
and more.

  1. Reminds me of The Invisible Wall by Harry Bernstein, published when he was NINETY-TWO.

    Harry nursed his wife until her death, then began capturing his memoirs on paper. Literally. (An old typewriter) You know, the kind with the ding, ding bell.

    Yes. Another book is supposed to be coming out.

  2. Great post! Just goes to show, age doesn't matter. Perseverence, heart, hard work, determination and God's will (not necessarily in that order) does!

  3. So there's hope? Sweet! And I shall follow him, right through the pearly gates.

    Great post. So I shall put me ol' butt in the chair and let the fingers caress the keyboard. =)

  4. Thank you, Jeanette, for the wonderful encouragement. I love this. Somewhere, someday, there's a publisher out there, and a certain famous person I'd love to meet...

  5. Hi Jen -

    Woohoo! Good for Myrrha.

    I didn't know Laura Ingalls Wilder was 65 when she wrote the Little House Series. Thanks for that interesting tidbit.

    Thanks for the encouragement on this fine July morning. :)

    Blessings,
    Susan

  7. Thanks! I so needed this pep talk today! At 64, some days I'm convinced that it's too late to pursue a writing career!

  11. Jeanette, I needed that encouragement right now. It seems my "life" is filled with other things so I don't have time for my dreams. Blessings**

  12. You girls: It's never too late! If you are faithful to the gifts God has planted in your heart, He will bring the harvest. He is ageless.

    Love you!

  15. I always like being reminded to never give up on the dreams planted in your heart. They have their perfect time to bloom as long as we're patient, and never, ever give up.

  17. I don't know how many times I've reminded people -- and myself -- about Grandma Moses's example!

    I enjoyed learning of some of the other role models too..............

  18. Jen:
    I needed to hear these facts. I found myself discouraged recently. I am pulling myself out of the doldrums a bit each day.
