What Abou YOU? Bible Questions

Every Monday I ask a question, to get to know YOU better. Ready for today’s? Do you have a Bible question that itches to be answered?

Every now and then my husband does what he calls, “You asked for it.” On a Sunday morning, he hands out slips of paper and encourages his congregation to write questions they’d like answered in a sermon. Then he preaches on those topics Sunday nights.

I know you can’t be at our church the next few months to hear your questions answered, but if you could, what would you ask?

  1. Not off the top of my head, but that sounds like an awesome series your dear hubs is doing!

  2. I've always wondered why one book says there was only one guy filled with the legion of demons and the other book says there were two guys filled with them.
    Why the discrepancy?

    That's my burning question. LOL

  3. Not sure it's a question as much of a curiousity, but I want to know more about that talking donkey. ;)

  4. What a great idea to have your church do this!

Here's my question: Did people really live 200 years in the early Bible days?

  5. I love that your husband listens to the congregation and makes it relevant for them. I would like him:)
When I first started to church, I would literally call my pastor almost weekly with questions. He was so patient with leading me through to answers.
Nothing is burning off my brain right now but I know where I can come:)

  6. That's great that your husband asks those questions! I can't think of one right now, but I am curious about the fish that swallowed Jonah. :)

  7. Wow, I LOVE that your hubby does that.
My friend and I had a discussion a few months ago. She was having a one-on-one Bible study with a new believer.
Basically, my friend's friend said, "Yeah, I get that God is all-knowing and knew that we would sin, so why then did he put that tree in the garden in the first place?"
I have to say, she brought it up at our Bible study and we discussed it but we didn't really have a good answer (especially to witness with) to that.

  8. Having just come from Kathryn Neff Perry's blog, I have the age old question of why good people suffer in my mind. I know disease isn't a punishment from God, but it's hard to explain that to others outside the faith.

  9. What a brave, brave man! : ) I love that idea, though.

I always come back to the circumstances that surrounded Eve's conversation with the serpent in the garden. Where was Adam? What was he doing?

  10. Wow, I can't think of one at the moment but I know I have had dozens, if not hundreds, over the years. What a great idea for your husband to do this.

  12. That is a good idea. Can't think of anything right now, but that doesn't mean I don't have questions. They're just not at the forefront of my brain at the moment:)
    Blessings,
    Karen

  13. I wish I would always know right away if it's God I'm hearing, just myself, or the adversary. I'm learning, but don't have it down pat.

  14. What a cool thing to do with adults. I do this all the time with my Kid's Church.

I drove my Sunday School teacher, pastor and anyone else who would listen with the question, "if God made the world...who made God?" It was years later before I would be satisfied with the answer, "God was!"

Have fun with this and ya'll have a most marvelously blessed 'fall' day!!! :o)

  15. It seems to me that Judas died two different ways (according to two different Gospels.)

I am still having trouble reconciling the grace of Paul's epistles with the works of James. These are my two questions.

    Your husband is very brave.

  16. I always ask Bible questions. Some will be answered in Heaven, I'm sure. Do you think God made Adam and Eve first, then made more people right away too? Cain was worried about someone killing him when he was outcast. I'm curious.

  17. Hi Jen -

I don't have any burning questions at the moment.

My pastor did the same thing as your husband. Once a month, he would have a Q&A after church for those who wanted to stay. He stopped it about a year ago because no one submitted questions.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

I don't have a Bible question at the moment. I'll be sure to bring any I have to you so you can have Kevin answer it.
