Dog, Friend, or . . . God?

When you hear the word “faithful,” do you think of a dog, a friend, or. . . God?

Yes, God.

I Corinthians 1:8-9 says “He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful” (NIV).

To quote one of my favorite preachers, Keith Moore, “God won’t allow you. . . to be tempted or tried above what you’re able, but will, with the temptation, make a way where you’re able to escape it.

“What does that mean? If a problem shows up in your life that you never imagined  you’d have to deal with, He is faithful to help you overcome it. Don’t ever believe the lie that ‘This is too big. This is too much.’ If it really was too big, it wouldn’t be in our life. God wouldn’t have allowed it.”

This year has thrown a couple of humongous issues our way---troubles we never dreamed we’d encounter. I admit I’ve been sorely tempted to say,“Lord, this is more than I can handle.”

You too?

Please take hope from the words above, from God and from Brother Moore. If the Lord didn’t have faith in our ability to overcome every fiery dart of the enemy, He would never have allowed them into our lives. The good news is, He does have faith in us. And He is faithful to help us.

He loves us deeper than our pain. He will be faithful to show us the way out of this complicated mess. So, “Be brave. Be strong. Don’t give up. Expect God to get here soon” (The Message).

God is faithful.

  1. Hi Jeanette! I do think of God with the image of faithfulness. But maybe I think more about Jesus' faithfulness in His life to the cross. Not his constant care to me. That's a really good point, and one I need to hear today (and every day!).
May we all be lifted in His constant care, and loving faithfulness/
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  2. Thank you Jeanette. Sometimes I don't think I can handle what comes, and then He sends in an angel. I have to believe these trials are for a purpose!

  3. Good thoughts, Jeanette. Sometimes it's hard to go on in the tough times. Only through our faith in God do we make it through. We may not see Him but He is there, helping us through, step by step. So thankful that He never leaves us nor forsakes us!

  4. Hi Jeanette, This is a beautiful post!! I have always held fast to the truth that God does not give us more then we can handle even when many times we may think it overwhelming. To trust in the Lord and lean unto his direction in all things. Believing in his faithfulness will always see us to the end. Thank you for sharing.
I just emailed you with my addy. Sending hugs your way.
    Have a nice weekend. cm

  5. Hi Jen - One of my favorite hymns is, "Great is Thy Faithfulness." His faithfulness is also a recurring theme in my books. I've tweeted this post. :)
