Why It's More Blessed to Give

I am excited to announce the winner of the book giveaway of The Extraordinary Presence of God
Our Lord Jesus Himself said "It's more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35). But did you ever stop to think why He said this?

When we give, we are imitating God. He gave us the beauty of nature. He gave us His image--the ability to choose, reason, and love. Best of all, He gave us Jesus as the sacrificial lamb to take away our sins, so we could be His heirs and friends.

That must be why giving feels so right--it's the GOD-thing to do!

Celestina Marie from Southern Daydreams. Celestina, I hope you enjoy this encouraging book, and especially my story about how God healed my kitty, Jolly.

Another book giveaway that runs through Sunday, Sept. 6 is for an autographed print copy of my first book, Two Scoops of Grace with Chuckles on Top. This humorous devotional continues to garner positive reviews, even though it's been out for almost two and a half years! Please go to the Goodreads Giveway for Two Scoops if you'd like to enter.

Do you enjoy choosing gifts for those you love? What is your favorite aspect of giving? Do you agree that  "It's more blessed to give?"

P.S. I will be on a short blogging break to attend my mother-in law and her twin sister's 90th birthday party. I'll be back here on Sept. 15.

  1. Looks like a great book! Have a good time!

  2. Have a nice trip, Enjoy the party.

  3. Hi Jen - I love that simple truth that God is a Giver, and we should also be givers. Years ago, when didn't have so many responsibilties, I'd go on a gift blitz at Christmas. It always thrilled me when I knew I'd purchased something they really wanted. The tough part was keeping it a secret.

Don't enter me in the contest. I already have the book. :)

  4. I absolutely agree that Giving is Receiving! God designed us perfectly, didn't He? Sometimes I feel almost guilty taking such joy in giving especially if it is using a spiritual gifting.

Oh, it's YOU! I'm so happy to see you here today, and look forward to reading your comments.
