Left Behind Or Not: A Balanced Approach to The Rapture

I was so impressed with my friend James Watkins' balanced approach to "the rapture,"spurred by the release of the movie Left Behind, I wanted to share it with you. After you read it, please give me your thoughts on Jesus' second coming.

Do you believe in the rapture, as depicted in the film, Left Behind?

Or not?

  1. I think he's on target. I so wish Christians would get over this obsession with knowing the end times timeline. It takes up so little of scripture, and people make it a giant part of their ministry and belief system. Jesus said to make disciples. He said to love God and one another. That's what he spent his time on. That's a pretty good plan to follow. And no, I don't believe in a pre-trib rapture. But I'm happy to admit--I really don't know and that's OK.

  2. Hi Jeanette! Thank you for introducing me to your friend. I did read his post, and there were some really good points. I like the idea that Jesus is not coming again in any subtle way. Angels and trumpets make it very obvious. No weird 'now I'm here, now I'm not' stuff.

I will never understand the end-times, and I think that's okay. As he quoted, it's best to know that I will need Jesus close to me, and have my lamp oil jar full. I have to be ready always!
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  3. Jeanette:
I have read most of the Left Behind series. I thought the one I read were good. But, I tryed to read one and couldn't get into it. The points that Jim makes are valid. When we studied Revelation in Sunday school, my teacher brought out the three millineal thoughts-pre,mid, and post. I have chosen to wait and see how Jesus wants it; if He wants the believers out premillineal,so be it. If He makes us stay to the end, He probably has something He wants us to learn.

  4. I agree with Jill. I do believe Christ will return but in the mean time it is about living for Christ and being His light in this very moment.
