I Did a Dumb Thing and prize giveaway

I did a dumb thing. When I ordered some imprinted pens to help market my book, I gave them the wrong title! I told them:

Two Scoops of Grace with Sprinkles on Top (which is NOT my book) instead of

Two Scoops of Grace with Chuckles on Top (which is my book).

I would say "I can't believe I did that!" except that I can believe it. I am always doing ditzy things that amaze even me. This one takes the cake, ahem, the ice cream cake. Ahahahaaaaaaa, made myself laugh!

Anyone want a free pen? If so, put your hand over your heart and say, "Even though this pen is imprinted wrong, when Jeanette's book comes out in the Spring, I will look for TWO SCOOPS OF GRACE WITH CHUCKLES ON THE TOP,  not Sprinkles."

Okay? If you did that, send your addy to jeanettelevellie(at)gmail(dot)com and I'll send you a (wrongly imprinted) pen. And, if you follow the link above and click LIKE to like my book's FB page, I'll send you a second one to give a friend. But you have to tell me you liked me, and you must promise to tell the friend it's CHUCKLES, not sprinkles. Okay? Okay. Good, I feel so much better now!

Did you ever do anything amazingly dumb?

  1. I would love a pen! Perhaps you could file this under "happy accident"? :) And of course, I will remember that it's chuckles, not sprinkles.

    Happy New Year!

  2. :) I like it that you are a member of the Christian pen - an "editing and proofreading service"! I ♥ it that you can laugh about it.

  3. I have done way too many silly things to list here! God has a purpose for it all, even if just to sprinkle a chuckle in our day. May I ask if the pens are black or blue?

  4. That's something I would do...very funny.

    Happy New Year!

  5. *Giggle* I suppose as a humor writer you have to expect these sorts of things... fodder for the next book, and all!
I ordered business cards for myself a few years back. 500 of 'em, at a great price... with my HUSBAND's cell phone number instead of my own. Oops.
And yes, I get paid to copyedit and proofread. *sigh*
    Thanks for the grins!

  7. Jeanette, congratulations again on your book! And the pen mistake isn't that bad or dumb at all, as you say. It's good that you're laughing about it now, and you may even remember this incident fondly in the near future.

Wishing you much success and many blessings in the New Year!

  9. Oh, Jen, this sounds like something I'd do! I think it's called, "a mental hiccup."

Going to your Facebook page now to hit, "Like."

  10. Too bad about the error, but I have done I lot worse things. Now, everyone who has a pen can tell about your great book to be. I did "like" you on Facebook. I have that same Jesus by the Sea picture right next to my computer.

  11. Lynn: The ink is black. The pens are orange with white print, and have a rubber grip and a pocket clip. They are retractable instead of a cap. I hate taking the time to remove caps, then hunt them down and put them back on. That's ten seconds of my life gone!

  12. Oh, Jen, how maddening and way too funny...great marketing, though. And fodder for the next book. And now you have a ready answer for the author interview question...what do you wish you did differently when marketing this book?

  13. I've done lots of dumb things, lots! Misread the train schedule two weeks ago and was late for a long scheduled appointment. Not sure where my head was. I like sprinkles and chuckles and will be emailing you. Wishes for much happiness in 2012!

  15. I've done things like that before. One verbal blunder I make frequently is calling the girls "Daniel" (their brother's name); maybe that happens on days when he asks lots of questions. I'll take a pen, and do my best to remember about the Chuckles; maybe you could bring some when you come to speak in April.
