Wonderful Words

When our son, Ron first learned to write, he cut a square of cardboard, folded it in half and wrote, “Holy Bible” on the outside. Inside he wrote, “Get your life from Jesus.” As he handed it to Kevin he said, “Here’s a Bible for you, Dad.” We stared at each other, amazed that Ron had summarized the gist of the Bible in four words. Don’t you think kids often have a fresher understanding of spiritual things than we adults?

One of my favorite words of encouragement from the Word is Isaiah 30:18:
Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.”

Do you have a favorite Scripture, one you turn to again and again when you need to “get some life from Jesus?” If so, please share it, and lift someone up today with some wonderful words of life...

Thanks!
Jen

  1. That's so special about your son. I do agree, they see things freshly.

I have a couple I like. I used to really enjoy Revelation 12:19 but now I think of 2 Timothy 2:7 a lot.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind."

  2. What a precious memory, Jeanette! And this morning here's a verse the Lord laid on my heart: I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus. Phil.3:8 Do I consider my writing a loss compared to knowing Jesus? I certainly want it to be! But still working on getting to that point!

  3. I have several, but here is one that helps me know my responsiblities as a Christian.
"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various form..." 1 Peter 4:10

I love your son's insightfulness. Just wonderful to hear!

    Eileen:
Yes, so true. Am i serving others with my gifts, or serving myself? I read so often, "write for your audience, not to show off your skill."
    Thanks for your wisdom,

  5. Great post! My life verse is Galations 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free." I have to remind myself of that that through Christ I am free from fear, from worry, from the evil one! I love freedom.

And I like when Jesus tells the disciples to take courage!

  7. How lovely. Children are amazingly intellegint about what counts.

I'm fond of Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

It's especially poignant since the Israelites have just been exiled, killed, and even resorted to cannibalism during the siege of Jerusalem.

I know no matter what life throws my way, God has plans for me to give me a hope and a future.

    Have a lovely day!

  9. My favorite-- Be still and know that I am God Psalm 46:10 because I tend to run ahead of him all the time and forget to listen.
