What about You? Meaning of your name
Every Monday I ask a question, to get to know YOU better. Ready for today’s? What is the meaning of your name?
Jeanette is the diminutive form of Jean, so “little Jean” is my moniker. Jean is the French version of John, meaning, “God is gracious.” I’ve always loved my name, and most of my writing centers on God’s grace. Imagine that!
As a bonus today, if you don’t know the meaning of your name, I will find it for you. Just leave your email address along with your comment, so I can get back to you.
Your turn…

I do not know the meaning of my name or if there is even a meaning because it comes from my mother's middle name which is Marie. My maternal grandfather decided to drop the 'M' and replaced it with 'L.'

I'm pretty sure my name means fair. I also believe Peter Pan had the first Wendy.
ReplyDeleteI like the wend in it.
Jen, mine is also a form of John, and means the same as yours! I'm so thrilled to have this connection with you.
ReplyDeleteGod is, indeed, gracious.
What a beautiful meaning, Jen! I honestly don't know the meaning of my name!
ReplyDeleteJames is a derivative of Jacob which means "deceiver." What a bummer of a name! There are worse like Judas, Adolph and Osama, so I'm not really complaining. I'm just glad that in heaven I get a new name.
ReplyDeleteMy actual name is Kathleen, which means pure. I had no idea until just now when I looked it up. I would say the name meaning doesn't fit at all, if not for Jesus, who makes me pure. :)
ReplyDeleteFun post!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your name, Jeanette!
Patti comes from the root Patricia (though my name is plain Patti) which means patrician or noble.
But that is not my name, so Patti is anybody's guess!!!
Patti
I've been told a couple of different meanings of my name. For the first 10 or 12 years of my life I thought my name was "little Brat"

Hi Jen,
ReplyDeleteI think my name means something about grace. I can't remember. BTW I love your page design. Pray that all is well with you my friend. Happy Monday.
Love,
Jan (Janice)
I've seen mine as celestial warrior. Also as a derivitive of Diana, the goddess of wine. If wine is the Holy Spirit then yee-haw! :O)
ReplyDeleteMy name is Karin (the perfected form of Karen). It's also a deviation of the Kathleen family, so it means pure :)
ReplyDeleteMy given middle name which I normally use is "Lee". Apparently I means "clearing or meadow" whatever that has to do with anything. It seems like Asian people often take a liking to me and call me Mr. Lee. Arlee is the pseudonym that I've taken on. Don't know if that means anything or not.

What a great post. I'm not sure what Janyece (my full name - Nisa's easier to pronounce. haha!) means, but I would guess it was a break off of Janice. I'm not sure. My name has meaning to me because my mom named me after someone who was so very kind to her. I always wanted to live up to that kindness. :)
ReplyDeleteJen:
ReplyDeleteMy name comes from the Latin caecus. Translated caucus means blind.
I once saw a sheet with *Cecelia* on it at Family Christian Store that gave a Christian meaning, but I have forgotten it.
Hi Jen -
ReplyDeleteMy name comes from the Hebrew word for "Lily."
Blessings,
Susan :)
Oooh, great question! My name means "industrious."
ReplyDeleteI also love looking up the names of my characters, and sometimes pick a name for it's meaning. I have no kids, but I keep two baby name books by my computer just for my writing. :)
My name is French - Jaime (J'aime) meaning "I Love" ... which my mother says suited me becuase I loved life as a little girl and still do!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's name is Chloe JoAnne which means "Growing in God's Graciousness" - we put a lot of thought into that one!!!
My name Nancy means Grace. My middle name, Jane means God's gracious gift. So together, we have Grace, God's gracious gift. I like it.
ReplyDeleteYour name suits you perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteMine comes from the English and means "song" or "hymn". My grandmother was English but our family roots are Irish. I recall my mother saying they wanted a simple name that couldn't be twisted into a nickname. I don't know that my parents thought about the meaning when they chose it for me but I'm content with it.
Carol Jean Garvin
Mine is a Hindu name which means "affection" :)
