"Asking a working writer what he thinks about critics is like asking a
lamppost how it feels about dogs."
~ Christopher Hampton
"If the English language made any sense, a catastrophe would be an

~ Doug Larson
"A writer is a person for whom writing is more difficult than it is for

"Never tell anyone that you're writing a book, going on a diet, exercising,
taking a course, or quitting smoking. They'll encourage you to death."

My personal favorite was Thomas Mann's. And your's?
Happy Weekend,
Jen
P.S. If you'd like to know how to increase your ability to understand your mate and make yourself understood, please join me this Sunday on Warren Baldwin's blog, Family Fountain, where I review a tremendous marriage book.
I like the Fraaz quote. Because now as I'm heading into revisions of my MS, I'm needing all the motivation I can to get the story as smooth and seamless as possible!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, Jen! :-)
The first one made me laugh! Great quotes, Jeanette. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the first one too! The second one confused me. I read it for like two minutes and then realized what I was doing and told myself to move on. (sometimes my blondness is more noticeable than others)
ReplyDeleteLOL...these are great! I liked the first one too!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the first one. Cute.
ReplyDeleteI'll check in on your interview. Have a great weekend! :O)
I like the lamppost one. It just made me laugh. Since my kids are fighting and it is barely 8am, I needed a laugh!

Hello my friend. I love that you put your followers at the top of your page. Havent stopped by for a while. Hope all is well for you. Happy Memorial Day weekend!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed them all! Thanks for sharing them:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Karen
They are all good, but I like the Thomas Mann one, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are all good ones below is one I ran across years ago.
ReplyDeleteWriting a book is an adventure: it begins as an amusement, then it becomes a mistress, then a master, and finally a tyrant. --Winston Churchill
Mr. Frazz has got me! ANd I think I've read a few books that have that implication! Have a great long weekend Jen!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen -
ReplyDeleteI can attest to the truth of the quote on how people will encourage you to death. A neighbor asked me today if my book was published. It is a regular theme with anyone, who knows I'm a writer.
Blessings,
Susan
I’ve enjoyed looking over your blog. I came across it through another blog I follow, and I’m glad I did. I am now a follower of yours as well. Feel free to look over my blog and perhaps become one as well.
ReplyDeleteJen:
ReplyDeleteI like the Fraaz quote. To me, good writing is like being on the scene.
Never mind the quotations; I adore your Suzie Ducken graphic! So very sweet! All those Suzie's Zoo characters are favourites of mine and my grandchildren and turn up in several of their baby albums.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, Jen.
Carol
Sorry Jeanette!! I decided to do a post on Memorial Day for today. I didn't realize you had already promoted the post! I have it scheduled to run next Sunday, June 6.
ReplyDeleteWarren
I like the quotes, esp the one by Jeff.
