1. Your posts interest me. Whether you share ways to improve my writing, what’s going on in your family, or a quirky hobby of yours, you've won my interest. And if you give away prizes, I'm yours forever!
2. You keep your posts short. Because I read as many blogs as I can squeeze into an hour a day, I tend to skim posts that are longer than five paragraphs. If you want to keep me coming back, share your wisdom in 500 words or less.
3. You’ve proven you care about me as a person, not simply a number on your stats. You’ve responded to my comments on your blog, whether posting on the blog itself or through email. You’ve friended me on Facebook, followed my blog, rejoiced at my victories and cried with me over my sorrows. Because of your genuine concern, I am committed to you.
4. You share my values. I love God and His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the center of my heart. When I see Him reflected in your posts, even if they aren’t overtly Christian, I know I’ve found a kindred spirit.
5. I learn from you. When I read a post that helps me grow- as a writer, a wife, a friend, a mom, or a Believer, I will be back. I love it when I’m challenged to change my thinking and my ways. If you manage to do that, you’ve won my support.

Great points! Definitely 5 good habits of highly effective bloggers. Connection is key, whether it's posting about topics that connect with readers or popping over to their blog to connect with them personally and perhaps thanking them for taking the time to read your blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful paragraphs Jeanette! I love how you tied each one into an award. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like reading the blogs of people who are kind. I like short posts too. :-)
Always enjoy your blog! I agree totally with your post today.
ReplyDeleteBlessings in bunches to you today and always! And you deserve all these awards too!
You hit them all. And I like all those buttons! I don't mind the odd longer post when it is good information or an excerpt. Sometimes I'll just come back to it if I run out of time to read it all.
ReplyDeleteI truly hope I can meet you in person someday!

Yes, I totally agree with your points!
ReplyDeleteNow that we're in the same club (BHDI)I feel the bond even more. LOL
Ditto from me to you also. How could I not follow your antics and encouragement?!?!!? :O)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these tips, Jen! Your posts are inspirational and your heart for the Lord keeps me coming back as often as I can. Have a beautiful weekend and thanks for the award! (Also wanted to thank you for the tip on keeping posts under 500 words - that will help me significantly as I need to spend more time on my WIP and not my blog entries!)
ReplyDeleteI can fiercely relate to your values and your belief in the Almighty. I hope and pray that HE continues to bless you with the warmth that you share with your followers. Thanks for the award.....have a nice time:)
ReplyDeleteI like short ones, too, and the occasional one that comes right from the heart. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYES. YES. YES. YES. YES.
ReplyDeleteNicely put, Jeanette.
I'd add "easy technology" to the list. I'm still trying to make my blog easy to navigate and follow. Not great at that, though.... yet!
I come back because I think we have alot in common, and love reading your blog. I love to explore other blogs, too. Great post!
ReplyDeleteJen you are a joy! I love your blog, and I thank God for you friend.
ReplyDeleteOh Jen, you are so sweet! I might just choose one of these awards to remind me of you:) I am in total agreement with these five points. Think you covered it very well.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of the friends that I've made through blogging, it brings tears to my eyes. It is a fun, humbling, enriching, and all around blessing of an experience. Thanks for being a blessing to so many. Happy weekend,
Karen
Hi Jen -
ReplyDeleteYou find unique ways to make a point - like this blog post. Great job!
Like you, it's important to me that we connect on some level. Relationship involves two people conversing.
I love blogging and visiting blogs. Shorter posts enable me to say, "Hi," to more people.
Thank you for being a thoughtful blogger and a wonderful friend.
Blessings,
Susan :)
I just found your blog through one of my other fellow bloggers. I am impressed. I've read tons of blogs but yours takes the award for sincere, caring, interesting, and Godly. Not necessarily in that order. I would hope between my 3 blogs you would find all of those effective blog writing principles. God bless, Dr. Bobbi
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you--and I agree! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteoh, i just echo this my friend. you make some very important points here to a good blog!

Jeanette, I forgot to mention, EVERYONE who comments on Richard Leonard's interview on my blog this week, gets a free book (your choice of two). How's that for a free gift? :)

Wonderful blogging points, Jeanette.... so glad our paths crossed!
ReplyDeleteHappy day! Brenda
I love it when I find someone who shares my interests and life experiences... in this case, our faith, our writing and our roles as pastors' wives. When I stop here I always find refreshment and encouragement and smiles. You write from the heart and that keeps me coming back.
ReplyDeleteCarol
Excellent!! That's very helpful, my friend. I like "from the heart" stuff...it has to be more than just giveaways to get me back. It definitely has to be interesting without being vulgar. Funny helps!
