Messy Desk contest

A prize for a messy desk? You’ve got to be kidding. Well, I'm not.

When I blogged about messy desks Wednesday, my friend Caroline asked if I’d give a prize for a photo of the messiest desk sent to me. I know she was joking but it’s just the kind of zany idea I love!
Here are the rules:

1. Email me a photo of your desk or workspace (kitchen table, TV tray, bunk bed, corner booth at the coffee shop, whatever). It must be yours, not someone else’s. My email is: jeanettelevellie(at)gmail(dot)com.

2. You may not straighten or remove any items before taking the photo.

3. The photos may not include people. Pets are fine, as long as they don’t take up the entire desk. I need to see what kind of mess you’ve made.

4. Deadline is noon, October 16, 2010, National Bosses’ Day. I will post the photos of the winner(s) on Sunday, October 17, 2010.

The winner(s) will be chosen based on my selection of the best messy desk(s). This may include anything from fun to colorful to the variety of items on the desk. I won’t know what I’m looking for ‘til I see it, like shopping for a new purse. If I can’t narrow it down to just one, I will pick two.

The prize(s) will be the Love Inspired novel, A Forever Christmas by Missy Tippens and a craft book, Just Write! By Susan Titus.

Are you jazzed? Get to clicking!

If you're one of those admirable non-messies, please tell us HOW you stay organized. In the future, I may want to have a neat desk prize!!

  1. Oh my goodness. I'm heading out for a wedding so if I don't get the email off to you...here are a few descriptions:

Sing Along songs tossed on the side.
    Oldest daughter's paperwork.
Paper towel used who knows when.
    Remote that doesn't work
    Wii remote
Sticky pad paper (that hey, I think you gave me)
    You get a glimpse.
    :D

  2. Oh, I wish i had photos of my teaching days. I told my students on the first day of class never to put anything they wanted me to see on my desk because i would not be responsible for ever seeing it. They were forewarned. It was one ironclad rule--they had to hand things to me personally. Since, I've needed to clean up my act to get any work done. I can't work that way anymore. But you should see other areas of my house . . .

  3. Oh Jen, my hubby wins hands down. I'm way too ashamed to take a picture. Trust me on this one. He's an Olympic level slob. *sigh* Happy Friday!

  4. This is a great idea! mine is usually far worse than it is now of course, we've been showing the house so I've been forced to clean up a bit... although my hubby assures me that its still plenty messy and this is in no way shape or form a 'neat' desk. ;)

  5. Sounds like fun, but I know I wouldn't qualify. Mine is no where near messy enough. :O)

  9. What a fun contest. My desk is so messy right now that it just might win if I entered. Since it is usually neat, I'm going to sit this one out. I just need to clean up after using the computer. This sounds, however, like an enjoyable and off-beat contest. Great prizes, too.

  10. Oh man, oh man. It's a difficult conscious effort for me to stay organized. I do not like it!

That said, I have an old buffet table in my living room (weird place, right?), and it collects all our bills and paperwork, books, keys, toys, small electronics. If only I hadn't halfway straightened about an hour ago...

  11. SHOOT! I just cleaned it and as a reward sat down for a blog peekaboo.

With a plastic dog bone, lip balm, a million business cards, magazines, dried roses, two clocks, matches, CDs, dust balls the size of marbles, a phone, pens, and seven journals, don't you think I would've won???
Oh, notecards with encouraging scriptures, too!!!

    Love you!!!

  13. Cute idea for a contest! I'm giggling at the number of responses that are the opposite of the normal, "My house isn't usually this messy" excuse. I haven't just cleaned my desk, but it isn't terribly messy so don't think it would qualify for a prize. I can't concentrate when it's too cluttered so I tend to sort through the debris and put things away regularly.

  14. Oh, Jen! What fun. I'll be sending a pic soon. AND if I don't win, I'll donate a book for a third winner. How's that for generosity?

Thanks for giving us another happy moment. :)

  15. Patti: Dust balls the size of marbles don't qualify for messy--mine are meteors!

Don't tell anyone, but after all this talk of messy desks, I got the notion to clean mine yesterday. It took a whole hour. It may take less than that to get it back to messy again...

  18. Goodness, it's embarrassing that my desk would probably win!! And actually, it's not my desk. I work on my laptop on the couch, and the couch is a disaster area! :)

Thanks for including my book as a prize, Jeanette!
