Objections to Aspirations

"Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome." -- Dr. Samuel Johnson

Do you have an aspiration or two for which you or others have voiced objections?  Are you waiting for all the objections to be overcome before you attempt your dream? Don't wait too long.

Another wise person said, "The journey of a lifetime begins with one small step."

Blessings on your aspirations,
Jen

  1. I so agree. If we stopped to consider everything NO GOAL would ever be reached. Stepping out in life isn't safe, so there will always be something, some reasonable excuse to stop yourself form going for it.

  2. I am in the midst of making a decision right now and it seems every other person is giving me conflicting advice. I think it's time to step back and talk to God for my clarity.

Anyway, felt like you were talking to me this morning.

  3. I think I'm the worst one when it comes to throwing up objections to my own aspirations! What in the world?

That's why friends like you are so crucial in navigating life. You help keep me balanced and out of the weeds on either side of the ditch.

    Love you, Encourager.

  6. I didn't get blatant opposition with deciding to homeschool, but some grumbling. Everyone assumes this is a temp thing and in a year or 2 we'll send him back. We'll see what God wants and go that way is my vote. :O)

  9. Hi Jen -

I sometimes feel like the cartoon character running, while everyone around him is throwing obstacles in his path. I'm an expert at dodging these days. :)

    Blessings,
    Susan

P.S. I linked to you today.

  11. Hi Jen,
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I'm trying not to listen to the voice of others,
and TRYING to keep this brain and heart of
mine focused on the One who is
    leading me on that;
    "Journey Of A Lifetime"

    God bless you

  15. Hi Jeanette,

I couldn't agree more. There is a time when a multitude of advice is wise. But there also comes a time when we must make our decision, put our foot forward and simply BEGIN.

Thanks for your wise words and your encouragement.

  16. Jen:
I am an encourager. God had to give me this gift because I rarely receive encouragement from others. I guess they think of me as confident. When I do venture out and do something BIG, I feel very honored when it works out.

  17. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I look forward to learning more about you.

I tend to want to know to much . . . before I have the faith to step out. These are good words.

    Fondly,
    Glenda
