What's Your Favorite Christmas Movie?

Do you have one or more Christmas movies that are must-watches? Ours is Silent Mouse, a made-for-TV movie from the 80's. Narrated by Lynn Redgrave, it's the story of the writing of the famous carol, Silent Night, with a bit of literary license thrown in.

The main character is a mouse named Nonny. Her full name is A. Nonny Mouse. I love that.

Unfortunately, it's only available on VHS. But we keep looking, hoping to find it on DVD. We've played our copy over 20 times--it's that delightful!

What are your favorite Christmas films? What about them keeps you watching year after year?

  1. Oh dear-- I don't think I really have one! I love the Hallmark ones that come on often but I don't like to watch ones I've seen before.

  2. I am not familiar with that one Jeanette. Not to reveal too much about me, but I appreciate the old Charlie Brown Christmas special.

Linus reciting an excerpt from Luke 2 is the best message of the season.

  3. Oh, I have a vague memory of that movie! For years, I'd watch It's a Wonderful Life every year, but the family doesn't want to watch it anymore. LOL. As a child I always looked forward to the Grinch and Frosty and all of those old cartoons. :) They're still fun!

  4. I've never seen Silent Mouse. It sounds delightful!

I don't think I have a Christmas favorite; I've been watching Christmas cartoon so long it's hard to say.

  5. I haven't seen Silent Mouse either! My favourite kid's was Timmy's Gift, a 30 minute VHS about Timmy, an angel, asked to bring a crown to the prince. Very sweet! I do like the old Christmas Carol with Alistair Sims too. My siser's favourite is The Sound of Music but sometimes I find that one hard to watch from beginning to end!

  6. I've got to say - It's A Wonderful Life.

It's such a great story in so many ways. So many lessons of love, family, friendships, and how we touch other people's lives.

I still watch and love Charlie Brown's Christmas.

    Blessings~

  9. I know the story of Silent Night but haven't seen that movie ... will have to watch for it. Our children always liked The Grinch so it's become an annual tradition, along with Winnie-the-Pooh's Christmas. We like Miracle on 34th Street, too, and It's a Wonderful Life, but don't really have a single favourite.

  13. We've been enjoying some Hallmark movies this season, and it was really fun to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" in color!

Helps us to get in the holiday spirit, or it does me, anyway. Of course, these must be watched with the tree lights on! :)

    Waving and grinning...
