A Secret for Dealing with Difficult People

Difficult people: everyone has a few in their life.
When the Lord reminded me recently to pray for and bless a person who had earned the Horribly Rude and Insensitive Award, I tearfully obeyed. It wasn’t fun, and I made some shocking discoveries about my own faults mirrored in others.
Then I wondered: am I a difficult person for someone else, or many others? Is a brother or sister praying for and blessing me, because I’m a thorn in their side? Gosh.

I’ll bet you know of a difficult someone who needs your prayers today.  Will you do it, just to spite the devil?

  1. I've been making a point to do that recently. Not easy, is it?

  2. It's definitely a character building exercise, isn't it? Thanks for the reminder! :)

  3. Catch myself thinking exactly that too Jeanette. A label is easily pasted - wonder how many I have had pasted onto my forehead.

  4. Hi Jeanette! I think I might be that difficult one. I need to pray a lot for myself I think. But, there are people who 'bug' me too, so I'll pray for them too. Takes one to know one!

  5. Thanks for the challenge. I need to start praying for those that bug me. I've wondered different times how I bug people. I'm sure I do somehow or other.

  6. Jeanette: I have someone I have to deal with who is a good worker but she has a way of ruffling my feathers and it's not just me she does this to. We all remembered we should pray for her. I have noticed lately that she has not acted as angry as she has been. I know the prayers that made the difference.

  7. Hi Jen - We're very good at making excuses for ourselves, aren't we? Other people are stubborn, but we have convictions. They're eccentric, but we're quirky. Allowing Jesus to love others through us can turn an irritation into a pearl. :)

  8. Love it! It does require God's grace to be gracious. Pray for those who despitefully use you. Blessings!

Oh, it's YOU! I'm so happy to see you here today, and look forward to reading your comments.
