Your Mission, Should You Decide to Accept It...

Have you ever made a mission statement? Whether you are a writer, a Christian wanting to win others to Jesus, or a ballerina, a mission statement will help you keep your heart and mind focused.

During a recent time of soul-searching, I sat at my computer and typed these words:

What do I want to write?
  • Clean humor for adults that will ease their stress, give them joy in their relationships, and offer them a new outlook on the world and the Lord.
  • Devotional articles and books that bring Jesus alive to those who don’t know Him, or change the thinking of those who have erroneous ideas about Him.
  • Fiction stories and books that delight, teach and inspire.
  • Children’s stories and books that make kids giggle, grow, learn, and lean on Jesus.
How do I want to write it?
  • Fresh.
  • Funny.
  • Relatable.
  • Thoughtful.
  • Real.
Questions that I need answered:

  • Is this what you want me to do, Lord?
  • Or, is it only my idea?
  • Can I do this without making my husband feel left out and shoved aside?
  • Can I do this without pushing myself forward, but letting YOU open doors for me in YOUR way and YOUR time?

I am still seeking the Lord for direction in my writing, and my life. If I ever stop seeking Him, I know I'm in for major trouble. But, this mission statement is keeping me focused on my target.

Do you have a mission statement? How has it helped you?
