Imagine a spunky, joke-a-minute redhead sitting at her computer crying. Why do you think?
A) Because she ate taco salad for lunch and her gall bladder is punishing her.
B) Because her twenty-pound cat is shedding on her new love seat.
C) Because two of her blog buddies, Jill and Wendy, gave her awards today, and she is awed and thankful for their kindness and love. Also because she's had a rough year and God is giving her a hug and kiss through these two friends. If you have not stopped by these two blogs lately, do yourself a favor and drink of these ladies' literary talents today. Oops! Was that a dreaded alliteration?

If you guessed C, you are right! Thank you oodles and boodles, Jill and Wendy. I am humbled to receive these. I know I put the pictures in backwards, but i'm still new at this...
For the first, the Honest Scrap, awarded by Jill (an awesome writer and fellow cat lover), I have to tell eight honest tidbits about myself you may not have guessed:
1. In my freshman year of high school I lived with my uncle’s family on Saipan, a tiny island in the South Pacific, near Guam.
2. I never wanted to marry a preacher because I thought you couldn't’t be rich and a pastor’s wife at the same time. Had to change my definition of "rich."
3. I love cheese so much I once hosted a cheese party where the entire menu consisted of various cheeses. Well, maybe a few crackers and some ice tea thrown in there, too.
4. I have three darling grand kids (I know I’m too young—I married at age five)
5. I own four cats; wait, I have the privilege of serving four cats.
6. In high school I studied to become an opera singer.
7. On an aptitude test I took when I was in my thirties, the counselor told me I should become a farmer.
8. While working at the front desk of a bank several years ago, I forgot my name when answering the phone. I thought it was hilarious, but the man on the other end was not amused!

For the second, the Superior Scribbler, awarded by Wendy (a superior writer herself), I am supposed to do a ton of things, but Wendy took me off the hook when she heard I was crying. I would like to adhere to one of the rules and pass this award on to some deserving fellow bloggers, however:
Susan Reinhardt at Christian Writer Reader Connection, a true woman of God with a heart for our nation;
Karin Beery at There Has to be a Beginning, who makes me laugh with her wacky stories;
Amy DeTremp, who has a heart to help other writers succeed;
Diane at That's What I'm Here for, who makes me think-- a good thing!;
Karen at Karen R. Evans, who is full of grace and wisdom.
Blessings and Love in the Lamb,
Jen
Congrats! I'm glad you're shedding tears of joy! When I saw your blurb appear on my dashboard, I was concerned that it might be bad news! But, yay! I'm glad that you're getting a well-derved award!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I pray your gall bladder decides to behave and the cat chooses a new favorite place to roll and tumble while leaving behind his fur.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and prayers, andrea
Wow, two awards, how great and you deserve them both!
ReplyDeleteAnd awww, thanks so much for your kind and sweet words. Although some of my friends and definitely family, might disagree with the "wisdom" part. :) Seriously, what a happy way to end my evening.
Thank you and blessings**
PS. I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed reading your 8 honest tidbits-from opera to farmer. I guess you're just a down to earth artistic person.
ReplyDeleteBig congrats you deserve them! XOXO
ReplyDeleteAre you serious about #7? I didn't know if I should laugh or think, "Oh my!"
ReplyDeletesmooches,
Larie
Jeanette, you are so very deserving and loved your honest list. I feel like I know you a little better now. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to those you bestowed it upon too!
I love the line about taking you off the hook b/c I heard you were crying. You crack me!
ReplyDeleteSending Love.
~ Wendy
Congrats! :-) I loved reading your unknown facts. Wow!!!! An island off of Guam, opera? And if you ever have another cheese party, count me in! Yummy. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, dear friends. You guys bless my hairbows right off my head!
ReplyDeleteYes, all of these are true. The farmer story is a whole article. I will post it sometime...
Love you all,
Jen
I am so honored. Thank you so much. I am thankful God had you find me. I am learning a lot from you!
ReplyDeleteCheese party--yummy! This is why I love your blog, I too married at age five, I love cheese, and my cat is my master.
ReplyDeleteP.S. The college aptitude test recommended I be a MORTICIAN. I faint at the sight of blood!!
Have a fabulous weekend!
Awww, You so deserve those awards! A 20 lb cat??? Really? All I can say is wow! So I guess you are asked to sing at funerals and weddings with that operatic voice of yours. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the awards. I love the name of your blog. That is a great tile and I was so thinking of naming my blog the exact same thing when I started it in June this year. Enjoy those hugs from God.
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost: Congrats!!! I'll have to hop over to their blogs and see what they wrote (I've been a bad blog follower this week).
ReplyDeleteSecond, thanks so much :) I used to try to write serious things, but even when I pour out my heart during gut-wrenching agony I make people laugh (usually without trying).
I'll go over this tomorrow morning when I'm more coherent :)
You deserve both awards. I love reading your blog :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, thank you. I was surprised and humbled to see my name. I am getting my post ready on what I learned at the conference and hope some authors can take something from it.
Congratulations, Jeannette!! You are very deserving! Isn't God awesome how HE offers encouragement at just the right time?
ReplyDeleteP.S. I LOVE cheese too! My favorite thing ever is huge chunks of colby jack or pepper jack on Braeburn apples. Mmmmm....
Congratulations! I'll be meeting Susan Reinhardt next week at the Greater Philly Christian Writers Conf. We chatted on the phone right before I went on vacation. She lives just south of me!
