What About YOU?
Every Monday I ask a question, to get to know YOU better. Ready for today’s? Do you have a favorite Scripture or quote?
One of my best-loved verses is Isaiah 30:18, “For the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him.”
I imagine my Father-God, the ruler of the universe and King of the ages, the ONE who creates with a word, the ONE who gives life, the ONE who alone works the impossible, rising from His throne at the sound of His little redheaded daughter when she cries out to Him. That He would notice me, pity me, and rescue me, amazes me.
Your turn…

Galations 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
ReplyDeleteComing from a very legalistic church background, this verse has come to mean so much to me. Now, it is not just about legalism, but about freedom from sin and bondage. I love being FREE!
I recently picked up Galatians 5:1 as my life verse, another good one I like is Jeremiah 29:11:
ReplyDelete` For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (This one is for my boys)
Psalms 71:5-6 on the top of my blog. I also like Isaiah 41:10.

I have several favorite scriptures, one of them is: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
ReplyDeleteI jokingly say, my favorite quote is:
"Don't mess with me...I raised a Marine."
Hugs, love, and lots of prayers,
andrea
Andrea: You crack me up! Thanks for the Monday morning laugh!

OOOOH, so HARD.
ReplyDeleteWould have to be Romans 8:28.
My writing verse and life verse.
Tough one Jeanette.
ReplyDeleteOne I have fallen in love with lately is in Isaiah 41:12-13, it is great for anyone needing a victory.
You shall seek those who contend with you but you shall not find them. those who war you shall be as nothing at all. For I the Lord your God hold your right hand. It is I who says to you fear not I will help you.Isaiah 41:12-13
I love that! God can take anything you are finding yourself up against and totally wipe it out!!!!
Job 5:7 "For man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward."
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me there are hard times--everyone has them--so I shouldn't be too discouraged, and I can get through.
It's pretty apt now, in fact. What a good reminder.
PS. My husband always says his favorite is John 11:35.
ReplyDeleteJesus wept.
But that's because it's easiest to memorize. ;)
As a writer, I love the verse that describes Jesus as an author. Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Mother's Day, Jen! You deserve it! :-)
This is what I command you: that you love one another. John 15:17
ReplyDeleteAll ya need is Love.
I used to attend college at ISU in Terre Haute for a while--I noticed you are from Paris...not too far at all. :)
Philipians 4:6
ReplyDelete"Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus."
Hi Jen! I'm so sorry it's been forever since I stopped by. Remedying that!
ReplyDeleteI love the Proverb (can't remember the exact verse) about man making plans but the Lord sets the course.
I found Isaiah 41:10 earlier this year. It spoke to me.
ReplyDeleteDo not fear,I am with you.
Why are you dismayed,I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you with my righteous right hand.
Hi Jen -
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to pick one. Right now, I'd say Isaiah 26:3 is my favorite. "He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee."
Blessings,
Susan :)
Habakkuk 4..... all those things happen and then YET..... God is so good. :O)
ReplyDeleteHis mercies are new every morning.
ReplyDeleteI have many favorite scriptures so it's hard to pick just one. But if I must:) for today, this song has been going through my head - Psalm 34:1-4. It picks me up when I am down and helps maintain me when I am up.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great verse!
ReplyDeleteIsaiah 61 and Ephesians 3:14-21 are big to me.
Be still and know that I am God. And if I had a Bible in front of me I would tell you where it is found but at least I know that verse:)
ReplyDeleteIn seminary, I chose a life verse. it was appropriate for a woman who thought she could do everything and then realized she was pregnant with her second child in two years and in grad school. He didn't let me down!
ReplyDelete"My gracious favor is all you need. my power works best in your weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9
I like "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined." Isaiah 9:2
ReplyDeleteThere are so many good ones.
