What About YOU?

Every Monday I ask a question, to get to know YOU better. Ready for today’s? Do you have a favorite Scripture or quote?

One of my best-loved verses is Isaiah 30:18, “For the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him.”

I imagine my Father-God, the ruler of the universe and King of the ages, the ONE who creates with a word, the ONE who gives life, the ONE who alone works the impossible, rising from His throne at the sound of His little redheaded daughter when she cries out to Him. That He would notice me, pity me, and rescue me, amazes me.

Your turn…

  1. Galations 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Coming from a very legalistic church background, this verse has come to mean so much to me. Now, it is not just about legalism, but about freedom from sin and bondage. I love being FREE!

  2. I recently picked up Galatians 5:1 as my life verse, another good one I like is Jeremiah 29:11:
` For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (This one is for my boys)

  7. Tough one Jeanette.

One I have fallen in love with lately is in Isaiah 41:12-13, it is great for anyone needing a victory.

You shall seek those who contend with you but you shall not find them. those who war you shall be as nothing at all. For I the Lord your God hold your right hand. It is I who says to you fear not I will help you.Isaiah 41:12-13

I love that! God can take anything you are finding yourself up against and totally wipe it out!!!!

  8. Job 5:7 "For man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward."

This reminds me there are hard times--everyone has them--so I shouldn't be too discouraged, and I can get through.

It's pretty apt now, in fact. What a good reminder.

  9. PS. My husband always says his favorite is John 11:35.

    Jesus wept.

But that's because it's easiest to memorize. ;)

  10. As a writer, I love the verse that describes Jesus as an author. Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day, Jen! You deserve it! :-)

  12. Philipians 4:6
"Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus."

  13. Hi Jen! I'm so sorry it's been forever since I stopped by. Remedying that!

I love the Proverb (can't remember the exact verse) about man making plans but the Lord sets the course.

  15. Hi Jen -

It's hard to pick one. Right now, I'd say Isaiah 26:3 is my favorite. "He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee."

    Blessings,
    Susan :)
