Do you follow yourself?
When I first started blogging, I noticed a blogger who followed themselves. That's silly, I thought. But now that I've lived in Blogsylvania for almost two years, I understand. If I believe in my message, I should follow myself. This is why I've added that dinky little Jeanette face to my list of followers. I'm not arrogant. But I do believe I have something of value to say, and I believe in the ONE who's called me to say it: Jesus. He's the Audience of ONE I care most about following.
I followed myself so that my blog would show up in my reader and dashboard. Then I can check if it posted correctly and that kind of stuff! But I like your philosophy better! We do need to believe in what we're posting! And I hope that ultimately I can give God all the glory!
ReplyDeleteCould not have said it better, Jody. Thanks, Jeanette, for the thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI was like you and thought it silly but one day I blogger was whacked and I wanted to see if people were getting my posts. I found following to be a great solution. It also helps me to see what my readers see--how they can scroll through my posts.
ReplyDeleteI like it besides. I'm a pretty cool chick. :D
Love.

Hhahaa, no, I don't follow myself. Too funny. Maybe I should? *grin*
ReplyDeleteI was following myself by accident. It was my second blog, "emerging." When I realized it, I unfollowed myself. I liked having it in my dashboard, though. It gave me a good look at what others see. I don't think I'd notice someone else following herself, though.
ReplyDeleteYes, i follow myself....for me it is about "believing what GOD will do through me!" I hope that does not sound arrogant...b/c it is NOT meant that way at all. I can not do anything worthwhile on my own...anything good you see is totally HIM!

I don't follow myself but I noticed my posts show up when I scroll through everyone's so now you have me thinking..how did that happen???
ReplyDeleteWell...what a fun way to think of this. No..I don't follow myself but perhaps I should. I thought that some who read through Google Reader HAD to follow themselves to read all blogs they follow. hmmm...
ReplyDeleteBut...I like what you said. I do have something to say and worth value. Too bad there are some that see no value in me and blast my only religious post I've had in months!
I never thought of it, Jeanette, and didn't even know it was done. I'll think about it. Here's just another thing I need to pick your brain on. :)
ReplyDeleteI do like the part about believing you have something of value to say. Maybe I should quit thinking of myself as a transcriptionist who dabbles in writing on the side and start thinking of myself as a writer whose transcription is 'just' her day job.
Yes, you need to follow yourselves, ladies. Have as much love and respect for your message as the rest of us do!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jen
Yes, I started following myself toward the beginning, too, so I'd know when my posts were showing up. I love what you said about believing in what you post about. If we don't believe in what we write they why should we expect others to?
ReplyDeleteWell....no I don't. Wouldn't that be like chasing my tail?....lol...just kidding. Never thought of that. thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI think I was my own first follower. You were my first official follower..... :O)
ReplyDeleteOh yes I do. Though I was not my first follower....third may be. No particular reason as such. Okay. Let me think.......
ReplyDeleteI never thought about following myself. Now I am thinking about it and I don't know what to think. Maybe I'll do it and see how I like it. I can always take it off if I decide against it. Thanks for giving me something to ponder.
ReplyDeletejeanette, original posting idea! :)
ReplyDeletei don't follow myself on my blog, but i believe in what i say and write in blogville and in my *non-cyber* life.
Good food for thought! I follow myself on the Facebook networked blog, but I don't recall doing that. I think it just did it automatically. I do follow Jesus, first and foremost:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Karen
Wow! I never thought to follow myself. Perhaps I will.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, your blog doesn't show up in my blogroll, even though I follow you. I need to go into my favorites to check on you :) which is sweet since you're a favorite, but sometimes I don't think of to do that. Glad I did today!
Jeanette:
ReplyDeleteI don't follow myself on Blogger. But when I networked my blog to Facebook, it did it automatically.
I never thought about following myself here. Hmmmm.
