The handsomest preacher east of the Pecos on his 59 1/2 birthday |
I love to bake. It relaxes my always-spinning, forever-creating, mystery-solving, never-silent brain. It is flour/egg/sugar/spice therapy, and far less expensive than a psychologist!
Today's What About You Question: Do you prefer cooking or baking? Or perhaps both?
Fun, fun! sounds like something I would do if someone reminded me it's their half birthday.
ReplyDeleteCute idea! Baking is my choice. Baking is warm and cozy and usually smells sweet.
ReplyDeleteI like both. I love to try new recipes.
ReplyDeleteI have to say this is the sweetest idea. I might have to borrow it. ;)
Your comment this morning moved me big time. Thank you. I love that God would use little ol' me in any way.
Love you!
~ Wendy
I prefer my Mother in Laws cooking and my Mom's baking :) LOL
ReplyDeleteI love baking as well. Happy Half Birthday to your husband:)
ReplyDeleteNone....:) But if I Have To, I'd prefer to Bake.
ReplyDeleteHalf a cake, really??!?!?! Can you be any cuter???
ReplyDeleteBAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!! No contest. :O)
My preference has changed over the years. I've never been a gourmet cook but I baked a lot of goodies when our family lived at home and we lived in a manse where folks might drop in frequently for "tea". Now that our kids are married and my DH is retired, our lifestyle has changed a lot. Although I did make a spice cake last weekend, I rarely bake anything now. I like creating main meals more than desserts. I'm more likely to explore new homemade soup or slow cooker recipes if I'm looking for comfort food. Is that a sign of aging???
ReplyDeleteSuper cute idea!
ReplyDeleteCooking (with 7 people at home) is still a necessary evil.
Baking is something I enjoyed as a youngster, avoided in my young adult years, and have just started to enjoy a bit more. The key for me? Buying a set of Pampered Chef stuff. The right tools make a big difference.
When I'm caught up in a story, I try to bake to give myself a breather. Cookies are best. That 10-15 minutes to load the cookie sheet, unload the cookie sheet is a good brain break.
And now I'm hungry.
: )
That's such a fun idea! I don't mind cooking but I enjoy baking. I used to try a new recipe every week or two when my husband had early meetings at work. Then I let his work buddies try out the new recipe to get their opinions.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!! Bet your hubby loved it!
ReplyDeleteHmm. Depends what kind of time I have and what mood I'm in. That can go either way and, as a woman, I have the prerogative of changing my mind. :)
Baking any day. Maybe it's because the sweetest things come from the oven. I'm not too sweet ;-), so I have to supplement my sugarload.
ReplyDeleteKathy; I beg to differ. You are a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteHonestly... I'm not that great at either! Ha!
I am new to your blog. Half a cake reminded me that my husband has a half cup for coffee. He does not use it but it is in the pie safe.
ReplyDeleteHalf a cake with half cup. How neat would that be.
I like to bake. But i have to be in the mood. I need to get in the mood as I have three friendship cakes to do this week.
I invite you over to visit my blog and become a follower. I added my blog to your list.
Jen:
ReplyDeleteI used to like to bake. But with Hubby having Diabetes and me wanting to watch my weight, I don't bake like I used to.
I much prefer baking to cooking, especially pies. I love to make crusts look pretty! It's an art form. :)
ReplyDeleteNeither? LOL. But I can do both when held at gun point. Baking, I guess. The results are often yummier. Sometimes. If planets are aligned, the universe is at peace and God is smiling at me...well, when I enter the kitchen I know He's probably not smiling, He's checking to make sure the fire department is going to be able to get to my house quickly.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen -
ReplyDeleteNo contest - baking! My grandmother and mother taught me what I know. I wish my stepson lived closer because he has a degree in baking and pastry.
All this talk about food today on the blogs is giving me the baking itch.
Blessings,
Susan :)
Your husband looks so happy with his half-a-cake!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to bake. Cooking is okay, but I'm a baker at heart.
I like both. And eat way too much of all of it! :)
ReplyDeleteMy Mom used to celebrate our half-birthdays, which made my sisters and me feel quite special. Glad to hear that there are others who remember this special mile marker in the year.
Blessings,
Karen
Oh my goodness!!! He is adorable!, and that is the sweetest most thoughtful thing to celebrate someone's 1/2 birthday. You have a great sense of humor, and a big heart.
ReplyDeleteMany blessings, Michele Katherine
P.S. I read the book I won from you, and it was a blessing!
To answer your question. I love playing with food and trying new recipes both cooking and baking. I do a lot more cooking than baking though since dessert isn't a daily treat at our house.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've done that for the kids. May have to try it for my husband--always a good excuse for chocolate! I definitely prefer baking. I have never really liked to cook, although I'm liking it more now that I have adult children to help and experiment with. But baking always feels special. Maybe it's those leftover feeling from baking Christmas cookies or birthday cakes with mom!
ReplyDeleteBaking, always baking. I love warm pastries, gooey cookies, fudgy brownies...yum!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet way to show your husband you care. Nice!
That 1/2 cake is so cute. What a great idea. I am going to borrow it and surprise my husband in March. I'll have to put it on the calendar now to remember.
ReplyDeleteI hate to cook. I used to do all of the baking - for birthdays, holidays and such. I much prefer baking. I seldom get grease splashes from baking.
Elaine Miller told me to look you up. Hilarious! I will have to try that sometime! You can check me out on http://kissedbythecreator.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAnd for me ITS BAKING that takes the cake!
Baking of course. it just seems more creative for some reason and anything sweet or chocolate has to have some good therapy with it. Hope all is going well for you. And Happy Half Birthday to your husband.Clella
