Axing my Blog Awards

All the blog awards I've received over the years have filled up my emtional gas tank, especially during those early months when I craved every little sign that I was doing an okay job.

But I heard from a good friend recently that my blog was so full of "stuff," it loaded slow.

So I decided to axe the awards.

It's not that I don't appreciate and treasure every one, and each kind person who gave them to me. It's that this blog isn't about me.

It's about you.
  • Encouraging you.
  • Making you laugh.
  • Sharing God's bottomless heart with you.

And I don't want you to have to wait too long while all that encouragement, laughter, and grace loads. So, for the sake of getting more grace to you faster, I'm going awardless.

Speaking of grace, one of my favorite writers and editors, Jim Watkins, honored me by including me in a list of authors he's asked to regularly post on his uber encouraging, world-renowned Hope and Humor site. Today he posted a funny article I wrote called Whiskery Wisdom, about what I've learned from my cats. Please join us for some meowy laughs.

Here's to you, my friend,

  1. It's also about you. Without your unique perspective -- and our interaction-- Blogworld doesn't work. Hope you had a great Sunday!

  2. You have a beautiful blog, Jen. The award icons are so small they shouldn't affect the loading time very much, but I understand your concern. I know we accumulate a lot of memory-crunching things on our sites over the years. Since I started including my own photography on mine I've been concerned that might be a problem for some viewers, but so far nobody has complained.

  3. I understand about the awards Jeanette. I appreciate that someone would think of me, but I stopped doing anything with them.

    Off to read Whiskery Wisdom...

  4. Off to read what you've learned from your cats. Wondering if it's similar to what I've learned from the cats I've been a mom to over the years... :-)

  5. Jeanette:
I stopped posting them when I saw they could take away my goal--to write for Him. I think it's nice to know someone appreciates my effort. I still want to please God.
