Sign Me Up; Hilarious Signs Spotted on Vacations

I love spotting signs on vacations--or anytime--that have double meanings or grammatical errors. The hilarious ones below are from Positive Words, Powerful Results by Hal Urban:

On a Maine shop: Our goal is to give our customers the lowest possible prices and workmanship.

In a Georgia Public Park: All dogs and some children should be kept on a leash.

At a New York Coffee Shop: Customers who consider our waitresses rude should see the manager.

Near a Diner/Gas Station in Indiana:  Eat here and get gas.

On a highway sign in Texas: Hitchhikers may be escaped convicts (the sign was full of bullet holes).

I will be taking a vacation the week of July 27-August 2, to speak at the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference, so will not be blogging that week or the following week. If the Lord brings me to your mind, I'll be honored if you pray for me.

Are you taking a vacation this summer? Have you seen any hilarious signs lately?

  1. These kinds of signs just make the vacation more fun, don't they? :) There was a gas station and restaurant near where we used to live in NJ. The sign outside said, "Eat Here Get Gas". Always made us smile when we drove by.

Have a wonderful trip! Will be praying for you.

  2. Hi Jeanette! I love those signs too, I think it makes it funnier because whoever put it up really thinks it's ok...I wonder if anyone ever tells them?
Have a great time at your conference, I know you will inspire many to keep working and not get discouraged.
    Blessings to you!

  3. Jeanette: These signs make me laugh. My hubby wouldn't let me tell the staff of our Credit Union about their mistake. "This is a smokefree premise."

  4. Haha--the friendly restroom thing sounds scary! One odd sign that I remember was in the dairy section of a supermarket. On the glass window where the gallon milks were, there was a sign that said: "Ice Cold Cow Juice!" I guess anything to get a product thought of in a different light.

I hope you have a blast in Philly, Jeanette.

  5. Hope you see lots of cool signs on your vacation! I've started to wonder if maybe they do that on purpose sometimes...especially in this social media age. It's a pretty good marketing plan--post a funny sign you know will be shared on social media and your business gets tons of free publicity.
