Seven Little Confessions

When I was a child and got into a little trouble, my Aunt Joyce told me, “Confession is good for the soul.”   That was over forty years ago, and I’ve been surprising people with my candor ever since. Why should today be any different?

1.      My husband brings me coffee from freshly ground beans every morning.  When he is gone overnight, I tote the programmable coffee maker into the bedroom and set it on my desk across the room, so I can wake up to the smell of coffee brewing.  I’m not lazy. I just prefer to use my energy for more important activities, like laughing and watching Monk reruns.

2.      I spoil my four cats beyond reason, talking baby talk to them and letting them climb wherever they want. They even jump on the bathroom counter and drink water from a cup there. I tell each of them that they’re my favorite one. Please don’t let the cat out of the bag and snitch on me.

3.      We lived in Illinois six years before I shoveled snow the first time, and that was only because my husband had broken his ankle.  I wanted to give him the opportunity to show off his upper body muscles, so I let him shovel all the years before.

4.       I love to slide across the kitchen floor in my stocking feet. You too? I knew it!

5.      I am not fond of cooking. My favorite cookbook is one containing recipes of three, four, and five ingredients. My husband does most of the cooking at our house, which is fine with me.

6.      My favorite sport is dining out. Shopping comes a close second. My favorite items to shop for are gift cards for restaurants.

7.      My hair is not this bright red; its natural color is auburn, which went bye-bye when I was thirty-five.  My youngest granddaughter’s hair is the same shade. YES!

Ahhh . . .  that does feel better.  Aunt Joyce was right.
Which, if any, of the above list can you relate to?

  3. Well......coffee and not cooking.
(Can't relate to cats, red hair, shopping or sliding across floors - especially since hip replacement and upcoming knee replacement surgeries!)

  5. I can relate to the hair color thing. My natural color right now is salt and pepper gray. Not a color I care for for myself. I much prefer my artificial color and highlights. And sliding across the kitchen floor? Mine isn't sparkling clean enough to do that. I loved all your confessions!

  6. Jeanette:
I can relate to husband doing the cooking. just before Hubby retired, he told my, "After I retire, you don't have to cook anymore." I didn't know how to take it. But, lately, it works. But, he says he doesn't remember saying it.
That hair color thing is also one I can relate to. Naturally, I think I have dark brown with snow white taking over. With light brown mixed in, along with some red. Now it's just brown with red highlights.

  7. 1. Oh SLIDING across the floor is on my list of priorities - and to add to the feet confession: BARE FEET on grass, on the beach and on a warm day on a cool tiled floor - HEAVENLY! If you haven't tried it - a MUST.

    2. My husband's hobby is eating out ( and my confession) I 'just follow' blindly!

    3. I do love cooking - and my husband now hardly EVER crosses the kitchen threshold. He feels totally unnecessary and made redundant on that score.

    4. I don't colour my hair - but pamper my feet by visiting a Pedicure every 5-6 weeks and treat my toenails to a tint.

    5. We don't have a cat anymore and I refuse to have another. Makes me sad when we toddle off on our weekends away - leaving it to fend for itself.

    6. I drink copious cups of T in the morning - no coffee before 10 am.

    7. I give my BLOG time priority over housework!

Jeanette , thank you. This was FUN to read and fun to add to. I had a period where I wrote '3 things to be grateful for' on a daily basis for a while. This is also a very worthwhile pastime - I am going to call it 'Taking a look within'.

    Have a blessed week

  8. Hi Jeanette! I can relate to the snow thing. I used to shovel all the time, but now that my husband's been home, he's in charge. I also do not cut the grass. When my Dad was teaching the boys how to use the lawn mower, he would call to me and say "Get out of the way! The mower might kick up some sticks and they might hurt you." Been afraid of mowers ever since!

My hair has been turning gray for some time now. I see photos of me with the very dark brown color and can't believe it's me!
    Blessings,
    Ceil
