Why Not Do New Year's Resolutions?

I don't do New Year's Resolutions. I shatter them ten minutes into January 1st, then eat two cookies to try and drown my guilt. Then I can't zip my pants.

I set
goals instead. They are gentler, kinder, and I can keep track of my progress on a paper tacked to my bedroom wall. Each time I put a check mark in a box next to a goal, I do the happy dance to celebrate. With this method, I can still zip up my pants!

Do you, like me, say Phooey on New Year's Resolutions? Do you prefer them, or do you set goals? Please share one or two with us.

  1. I don't make New Years Resolutions, either. I had a burst of energy a few days ago and I thought I could get some things done that I had to put off. Well, the burst of energy didn't last. Neither does my resolve to keep New Years Resolutions.

  2. That's so frustrating for a burst of energy to dissipate, Cecelia. May the Lord give you strength for everything He's called you to do. Love, Jen

  3. No resolutions for me, never worked. I do set some goals thought, writing goals in particular... because I know myself, I am pretty good at postponing what I need to work on :)
