Thin Places by Mary DeMuth
Thin Places: Those moments where Heaven and earth meet. The curtain of our mundane lives pulls back for a momentary glimpse of God’s overwhelming grace. All of us experience them, but Mary Demuth describes them in the way only she can.
Written in Mary’s typical “grab your heart and refuse to let go” style, Thin Places uncovers the kind of secrets all of us wish we had the courage to share. Opening the pages of her painful childhood, she allows the reader to glimpse her wounded soul, and gaze upon the Lord who brings healing.
DeMuth weaves her words and God’s truth in and around the terrors we all suffer: abuse, envy, fear, abandonment, insecurity. But she never leaves us in our pain. Her final offering reveals joy, fulfillment, friendship, and security.
On my quest to know Mary better, I found myself falling in love with the Father all over again. Reading her memoir became a thin place for me, where I experienced God’s sweet embrace.
I recommend this soul-stirring book to DeMuth fans and Jesus followers alike. Look for it in a prize giveaway on this blog soon. But if you simply can't wait to begin the Thin Places experience, go here to order.

I am on p. 100 and I am blown away. I wrote a post a month or two ago about life-changing fiction. I know this isn't fiction, it's a memoir. But it is life-changing nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteYou know that's her on the cover, right?
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised that this book is amazing. Thank you for the review. I hope someday I get to read it.
Posting my review tomorrow. This was a well-written take on her book.
ReplyDeleteShe's a beautiful person and I've never met her. Says a lot about someone when you can say that w/out meeting them...
I can say that about you!
~ Wendy
Yes, this is a life-changing book.
ReplyDeleteI wonderef if that was her on the cover--it's a sweet photo.
I have met Mary; she is gracious and genuine. You should hear her speak--powerful!
Thank you, Wendy. You turned my day from gloom to brightness!
Thank you!!

Thank you so much for the review.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. I've heard a lot about the book and think I need to check it out.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

..sounds like an encouraging read. There is nothing better than living a life where we are able to recognize the thin place or be aware of those times 'when heaven scrapes the pavement.' Thanks so much for sharing. It sounds very much like a book I would appreciate. Well written review, Janette!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a beautiful book. Thanks for putting it up. Always on the look out for more books. :)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know, my primary blog is: http://emilyannbenedict.blogspot.com/
I write on it much more often than my contest one. :)
(Luv your background Jen!) I cannot wait to read this book. I'll have to keep checking back for the giveaway. It warms my heart to know the Lord has his hand on each of us. I can see how Mary's book would be such an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteJen:
ReplyDeleteA very well-written review. I love your description of her writing style-"grab your heart and refuse to let go."
I have read the first two books in the Defiance, Texas trilogy. I can't wait for the third one. But, I will have to.
Wow, thanks so much for your sweet words, Jen! Humbling!
ReplyDeleteAdding this to my TBR list! I love the cover, and your review stirred my spirit.
ReplyDeleteHey, Jeanette,
ReplyDeleteHad fun "chatting" with your hubby today! LOL.

Jeanette, I'm getting ready to write a review about that too. Just finished the book. I promise not to use your words,...well maybe some of them...or just one or two....LOL. Seriously, no. I just like reading others responses. Neat. Blessings**
ReplyDeleteI hear this book is incredible--and that DeMuth was so brave in writing her story. I really admire her for doing this.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great book!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like a good book, only I worry about it being too powerful. Is it? I Its cover is so cute, those knobby knees. I'll give it a look and let you know how it goes. I love finding new books.
ReplyDeleteIf what you mean by "too powerful" is that it brims with words from God's heart through Mary to change lives forever, then yes, it is too powerful.
ReplyDeleteToo powerful for the devil to touch.
Sounds like a really good book! I'm looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Mary Demuth, but will certainly try to find this at my used book store. This is the type of book I want to write someday about myself & my journey to Christ. Can't wait to try to find the book! (or win it!!) LOL. Sounds exactly like what I need to read right now.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really good book. I need to read it!
