In first grade, I admired my sweet,
youthful teacher so much I wanted to emulate her and teach school. By the end of
my first year in college, I’d changed my mind more times than a hermit crab
changes homes, from a gourmet chef to a journalist; from an opera singer to a
service woman.
The
one thing I said I’d never be was a preacher’s wife!
God
sure has a creative sense of humor, doesn’t He?
As a child, what did you aspire to be when you grew up?
I probably thought about being a teacher, but all I ever really wanted to be was a mommy.
ReplyDeleteThat's great, Barb! I'm sure, since you wanted to be a mom, that you're a marvelous one.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be a singer, love to sing, always will.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Denise. The Lord loves to hear us sing!
DeleteHa, I've always been told, never say never to the Lord. :P I wanted to be a nurse, since my Dad was a doctor. But I hate needles and stuff!
ReplyDeleteKaren: I don't think I could be a nurse, either. I hate the thought of inflicting pain on someone else.
DeleteI wanted to be a teacher and then a nurse. I wound up doing work in state government and then federal government. When I was in high school, I worked the spring semester of my senior year in a library. I went back to it in 2004 for almost four years.
ReplyDeleteI noticed something as I grew up. If I said I would NEVER do something, I found myself doing it, in spite of what I had said.
Dear Quiet: Sounds like you've had an interesting life!
DeleteI wanted to be a nurse and then a writer. Instead, I've spent years as an Administrative Assistant. Finally, 10 years ago the writer dream re-surfaced. :)
