Why You Gotta Love Redheads

Our youngest grand aughter, Grace, is a redhead, too!
Did you know that November 5 is Redhead Day? You just gotta love redheads. Why? Because we make everyone around us feel smart when we do ditzy stuff.  You may agree with me after you read this dumb thing I did at work a few years ago.

One of the customers at the office supply store I used to manage is a lovely lady named Faye. She is deaf, but can read lips and communicates well.

Faye stopped in one day to order a product we didn't keep in stock. When I called her place of business to let her know it was in, Ruthie answered. "May I please speak with Faye?" I said.

"Noooo..." said Ruthie. "Did you forget that Faye is deaf?"

"Aha. Yes, I did." We yukked it up until you could hear us laughing in Heaven, but I was SO glad I wasn't on Skype. Ruthie would have seen me put my head under the desk. Or at least on the desk.

The moral of this story is: You can lead a redhead to a phone, but you can't make her think. But you still gotta love us, because we make doing ditzy things look so cute!

Do you have any redheads in your family?

  1. Happy Red! :)

No redheads here. We are all dark brown, though mine was jet black when I was a child. I tired to dye it red once or twice...ugh...it had that weird purple hue that you get when you try to make your hair be like someone else's. I have also tried blonde...not good.

  2. My fifth and sixth grade reading, writing, and spelling teacher was a red-head. Often, I remember her saying,"I have red hair and the temper to match." She passed away a few years ago. Every once in a while I think of her. So to me, red head's aren't ditsy. They may have hair-trigger personalities. Around here, it's the blondes who are reputed to be ditsy. Just to let you know, I have been both blonde and red-haired.

  3. Hi Jeanette! I have two grandchildren with red hair, and it was quite a surprise. They are the first for us! They're a little young to gauge the level of ditz they will achieve, but let me tell you, they are adorable now. Love the picture of you with your grands, aren't they just the best?
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  4. I don't have any red heads in my family. I did have a sweet friend I met when I was in the USAF. Deb was my room mate in the barracks and my maid of honor at our wedding. Good friend, I miss her, though. She died a few years ago and I miss keeping in touch with her. We had good times together! Will have good times in heaven too, when it's my turn to go! Happy night, Jeanette!
